Nova aplikacija Google Maps za mobilnike Iphone
Ameriški spletni velikan Google je razvil novo aplikacijo za spletno geolokacijsko storitev Google Maps za Applove pametne mobilne telefone Iphone.
Nova Googlova aplikacija je že na voljo v Applovi spletni trgovini za aplikacije Apple App Store, je razvidno iz današnje objave na Googlovem uradnem blogu.
Do tega prihaja približno tri mesece po tistem, ko je Apple na svoje mobilnike z novim operacijskim sistemom Ios 6.0 začel prednameščati lastno navigacijsko storitev, ki pa se je po poročanju ameriške tiskovne agencije AP izkazala za slabšo od Googlove storitve.
Glavni izvršni direktor Appla Tim Cook se je zaradi številnih napak in nenatančnosti Applove storitve Maps celo javno opravičil uporabnikom in jim svetoval, naj do odprave pomanjkljivosti uporabljajo storitve drugih ponudnikov.
Googlova nova aplikacija za mobilnike Iphone sicer ponuja več funkcij kot v preteklosti – med drugim navigacijo z govorjenimi navodili in ulični pregled Streetview.
Prav to, da je bil Google Maps za mobilnike Iphone v preteklosti oskubljen v primerjavi z različico za mobilne naprave z Googlovim operacijskim sistemom Android, naj bi bil po mnenju nekaterih poznavalcev tudi eden od razlogov za Applov poskus z lastno storitvijo.
Nova aplikacija Google Maps je na voljo za mobilnike Iphone in prenosne predvajalnike Ipod Touch z različico operacijskega sistema Ios 5.1 ali višje, in sicer v več kot 40 državah in 29 jezikih.
V Googlu sicer zaenkrat še ne želijo razkriti, kdaj bo nova aplikacija na voljo tudi za Applove tablične računalnike Ipad. (sta)
